Using the Intel Architecture in high-performance signal processing applications

Historically, processors from the PowerPC family have been the dominant choice for implementing DSP in high-performance embedded military applications. Today, however, Intel architecture processor technology can be used for the first time.

Test automation framework - make or buy?

The main purpose of a test automation framework is to increase product development and product process efficiency. This paper reviews the advantages and disadvantages of making or buying a test automation framework.

Combining Boundary Scan and JTAG Emulation for advanced structural test and diagnostics

Boundary Scan and JTAG Emulation are two perfectly complementary methods, which are fused into one flexible and powerful technique for advanced structural tests by GOEPEL electronic’s VarioTAP technology.

Embedded graphics and data models in the development of GUIs

By Klaus Gerstendörfer, XiSys, Robert Schachner, RST and Peter Schuller, MicroSys

This article reviews the requirements of modern embedded graphical systems, and presents XiBase9 as a good starting point to satisfy the requirements profile. It introduces the Software Platform Embedded Systems (SPES) 2020 alliance, part of the BMFT research program IKT2020.

The combination of visualization and data models for embedded graphical user interfaces is an entirely new and innovative approach developing complex animated graphical functions for small embedded systems. The realization of the graphical user interfaces is completely taken over by a designer without the so far required programming. Animated objects for the display and manipulation of process and system data are simply configured by resorting to the underlying data model...
